Beckhoff KL5111 is a KL5xxx position-measurement terminal for direct connection of one 24 V DC incremental encoder. It evaluates the A and B signals with a quadrature decoder and handles the C zero pulse, allowing position or pulse-count information to be transferred to the higher-level controller.
The integrated counter and zero-pulse latch can be read and controlled by the automation system. The KL5111 also supports period measurement with high time resolution and can be configured to operate as a 16-bit up/down counter.
Replacement selection must take the encoder signal level and exact catalog variant into account, because the KL5111 family includes versions for different encoder voltages and additional latch or frequency-measurement functions.
