Product description

6ES5470-8MB12 – Siemens SIMATIC S5 analog output module

6ES5470-8MB12 is an analog current output module from the SIMATIC S5 470 family. It provides two isolated bipolar outputs and is designed to transfer analog setpoint values from the controller to field devices.

Application in SIMATIC S5 systems

The module can be used with S5-90U, S5-95U and S5-100U systems as well as ET 100U and ET 200U distributed I/O stations. Typical applications include controlling drives, controllers, actuators and other devices requiring a bipolar analog current signal.

The 8MB12 version uses a +/-20 mA output range. It should not be confused with the similar 6ES5470-8MC12 module, which uses a 4-20 mA signal. This difference affects both the connected field device and signal scaling in the STEP 5 program.

Replacement and selection

When replacing the module, check the complete catalog number, required signal range, station configuration and the way analog values are processed in the PLC program. Similar modules in the 470 family may use different signal types or ranges despite their similar appearance.

Detailed electrical values and other device data are listed in the technical specifications section.
